project 03
a Morris world
My granddaughter is an artist, an engineer, and a romantic. For her 20th birthday she wanted “something sort of Victorian for my room.” What could be better than a splurge of William Morris patterns? I was delighted to find that reproductions of designs by his fascinating daughter, May, are available and beautifully produced.
When I asked her color choices, my granddaughter suggested “blue, green, gold” or “warm soft green, pink, yellow.” Because I enjoy making quilts with two dominant sides, rather than one main side and a backing, it was a no-brainer to use all the colors. This made choosing fabric for sashing and binding even more interesting.
