You can work for weeks or months on a painting, but it never feels quite as real as when the label is attached to the gallery wall. The same sense of arrival happened when I received my order from the Dutch Label Shop.
These endearing labels came just in time. I had finished up a pieced dress for my lovely friend, Alice, and wanted to deliver it before she left on a well-deserved Key West holiday.
The dress has a comfortable and flattering fit – resting lightly on the shoulders and drifting gently away from the body without being boxy. I made the bodice and skirt in sections of different fabrics then finished up the mix of color and pattern with wide, pieced hem panels.
Alice is a vivid personality with a great sense of style. She pointed me in the direction of her favorite colors, and the rest was easy.
